INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES/SEMINARS
During the period, two senior officers attended a workshop
and inaugural event of the International Corrections and Prison Association for
Advancement of Professional Corrections (ICPA) which was held in Budapest- Hungary from 10
- 14 October 1999. A report on the officers' visit to Hungary has already been submitted.

3.3.1 Medical project
a. availability of drugs since introduction of
the programme.
b. adequate treatment of suffering and intensity of diseases.
c. reduction of mortality and mobidity rate by 2.5 %.
d. reduction of referral of sick inmates to District Hospital.
Tailoring
As stipulated in 2.1.2, 5000 pairs of prisoners
uniform have been completed and training of 32 prisoners as tailors is going at a welcome
pace.
Equipment (Computer and Fax machines)
This has facilitated communication between other
Government Department and NGO's on one hand and Prisons on the other. The computer has
opened windows for Prisons to the world through E-mail and Internet.
Construction
So far 13 houses have been completed i.e. maintained and
painted. This has a great positive impact for the living conditions of our member of
staff. This development is most welcome indeed.
