Nature of Archives Administration

  • Definition, establishment of the National Archives of Malawi, distinction between the National Archives of Malawi and other related fields of documentary heritage and the nature of materials that are the concern of the National Archives of Malawi

Principles of Archival Legislation and Regulation

  • Legal framework for the preservation and use of the national documentary heritage, definition of the field of application of the National Archives Act, authorities for the direction and tutelage of archives, Archives Network, legal status of non-public papers and enforcement of regulations under the National Archives Act

Introduction to Archival Procedures and Practices

  • Principles concerning public archives documents; general sorting, arrangement, description and classification of archival record groups; principles of arrangement and description with regard to provenance, respect des fonds (original order), etc, and writing of administrative history; accessioning, finding aids and inventory control; and methods of dealing with unclassified Record Groups
